* Visiting Author Robert Heidbreder

Robert Heidbreder was born in Illinois but now live in British columbia. He has enchanted children with his joyful poems and shymes for more than two decades. An elementary school teacher, he believes that children's love of silly and absurd combinations of words makes them natural poets. His books include Eenie Meenie Manitoba, Don't Eat Spiders and, most recently, Drumheller Dinosaur Dance. For Grades 2 - 3.

* Doctors Without Borders: the Story

Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres) is a secular humanitarian-aid non-governmental organization best known for its projects in war-torn regions and developing countries facing endemic disease. It was created in 1971 by a small gourp of French doctors who believed that all people have the right to medical care regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation, and that the needs of these people supersede respect for national borders. Dr. Orbinski is the former Director.
Presented by the University of Lethbridge Discovery Lecture Series via videoconference.

The significance of fathers in children's lives has been underestimated for too long. This brief look at and discussion of the often surprising contributions fathers make in their children's lives, even when we don't think they are, will have you rethinking this relationship. Highlights of parenting research adccumulated over decades will be presented along with "what does it mean for us?"

EVERYONE WELCOME
Thirty four framed photographs taken by local photographer Clive Schaupmeyer. Six framed prints will be offered on silent auction with proceeds going to the Friends of the Library for library programming. A number of unframed prints will be available for sale with a portion of the profits being retained for the Library and an equal portion going to the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Disaster Relief Fund.
